Pink, Day 33: My little Ponyta.

Hello, and welcome to the Pokémon Center!

I awoke in a Ponyta's Stable (how this happened, I have no idea but I hope it was awesome and not awful).  My head pounded and my vision was a blurry tint of orange.  I remember... a girl... and... talking Pokémon and some giant pitchfork.  Oh bloody boy, I had to stop having Haunter use Dream Eater on me.  Well, I had to at least cut down.  A bit.

I looked up to see a lady frowning at me.  "You're awake? How y'all feeling, darling?"  Her accent was funny and she had a Miltankgirl's hat.  "I didn't expect I'd find a Nurse Joy out in the tracks on her own unconscious.  I would've put you in a good old bed but the nearest stop is a few miles away.  It seemed better to keep you here for the night."

I probably had "Nurse Joy" written on my forehead or something.  What else could explain all these people calling me Nurse Joy?  Never mind.

"Welcome to a little place I like to call Equestria.  There's all sorts here, from cute Ponytas to magnificent Rapidashes.  You'll find some Blitzles and some Zebstrikas too."  The lady helped me up from the straw and presented many stables around, each one housing a Pokémon.  "The name's Lara but people call me Applejack."  She walked over to a Ponyta nearby which bore blue fire as apposed the general red fire (blue fire doesn't make sense but this was okay, things weren't making sense anymore anyway) and it had a little rainbow mark on its hind leg.  "This one here's Rainbow Dash.  She's a fighter all right and is mighty fast too.  Sometimes I wonder if she is flying out there when she races out on the track."  She gestured to another Ponyta, this one had three balloons on its hind leg.  It was bouncing up and down and spinning in circles excitedly.  "Pinkie Pie is such a fun one and she gets excited at everything."

This was very interesting but so was leaving.  So I did that.  I left and saw a ton of people.  Soooooo many people.  Men and women all around were setting the place up for some great event.

"I bet you're impressed!  The Pokémon-athon is happening on the morrow, and darn tootin', its gonna be the best one yet!"  Applejack took my arm and dragged me around to give me a tour of the place.

"Here's the race tracks!"

"Here's the stands where people will stand... and sit!"

"Here's the ticket office for bets!  I'm betting my life savings away because that is the best idea in the whole world!"

"Here's the apple stand!  I LOOOOOOVVEEEE APPLEESS!  I GREW THESE APPLES!  I SELL APPLES!  MY TRUSTED APPLEBLOOM IS GOING TO BE SELLING THEM ON THE MORROW!"  Applejack gave me an apple to try.  Now in situations like this, one has to be careful of being poisoned.

MUNCH!

Not bad!

Not bad at all.

"How do you like them apples, eh, partner?"

I smiled and thanked the lady.  People were a lot nicer when they thought I was Nurse Joy.  Most people.  I never found out why Misty was weird to me.  Maybe it was because she thought I was Pink instead of Nurse Joy.  I am confused.  Fortunately, Applejack has more apples for me to munch on.  Yum!  Yum!

I was taken back to the stables and towards a Ponyta in particular.  The fieryPokémon huddled in the corner, trying to hide behind its own mane.

"Poor thing.  She's been all scared ever since I got her.  I was wondering if you could have a look at her.  Maybe you can give her some kick."

Applejack opened the stable gate and urged me forward.  Well bloody heckers on a bloody stick!  I hadn't thought of having to do something like this!  I didn't know the first thing about helping Pokémon!  This would prove a challenge to say the least!

I approached the Ponyta slowly, careful not to annoy her.  That thing could kick me or something.  Instead though, the Ponyta merely moved away from me.  I stepped a little closer and again the Pokémon sought to avoid me.  Applejack surveyed my performance with judging eyes and I smiled weakly at the lady.  This was going bad.  Really bad.

Swoosh!

Slam!

I slipped on the bloody hay and two of my Pokéballs rolled across the ground.  Out popped Machamp and Dratini.

"What in tarnation are you doing?"

I froze, unsure what to do.  What was I supposed to do?  I knew nothing about helping Pokémon!  I wasn't really a Nurse Joy.

I returned Machamp to his Pokéball but before I could get Dratini back, the Ponyta got up and rushed towards her... then started spinning in circles with glee!

"Dragons!  You genius!  Fluttershy likes dragon Pokémon?  Wow, and here I thought you didn't know what you were doing!  Good job!  Hey, you know what, I'll let you ride at the Pokémon-athon if you want!  You can take Fluttershy with you!  It'll be fun.  What do ya say, partner?"

Applejack beamed at me and started stroking the happy Ponyta.  Dratini looked abashed and nervous.  Never mind.

I didn't really want to stay here as I still had badges to grab, but racing would be fun.  I accepted Applejack's offer and joined her in petting Fluttershy.

Hope to see you again soon.

Nurse Pink Joy
