Pink, Day 26: A Misty-understanding

It was just after midnight when Brock and I got back to Cerulean City.  I wanted to go to bed but part of me wanted to figure out why Misty had rushed back to her Gym (mainly because it would stop me having to go to sleep to dream).  Had something bad happened?  What was going on?  Brock seemed very worried.  He explained he was very good friends of Misty and they had traveled together for a long time a few years back.  Yeah... they definitely dated.  Things were going to get awkward.

We got to the Gym and entered.  The place was dark and dreary (that might have been because it was late at night).  No one greeted us or stopped us from proceeding  (also because it was late at night), so we went on, surveying the area.  Soon, we came to a pool with a Seel swimming about in it.  The Seel didn't seem to acknowledge us or anything.  Were the majority of water Pokémon stupid?

We went further on and found a room with its door locked.  We heard a shout from inside.

"Do not move on step further!"

I remained still, perhaps this was all part of their test to see if trainers were good enough to fight for the badge.  Perhaps.  I could stand still.  I wasn't Purple.  Nope.

"Brock? What are you doing here?"  Added the voice.  It was probably Misty.

"I'm just making sure an old friend is all right."  Said Brock.

The door was unlocked and opened.  Out came a woman who looked about my age but she had orange hair.  Purple had always wanted to be called Orange.  Perhaps that was because he was a bit of a fruit.

I explained that I knew it was late and could come back later for the badge battle if need be.  Misty just glowered at me and snapped.  "You are not welcome here!"

Well, that respect really had run out but the bloody woman was over-reacting.  "All I want is a bloody badge!"

"Yeah right and next you will try to walk away with my sister!  I know your secrets, I know what you were trying to do!  But I won't let you do it!  You won't come near my family!"  Misty glared at me as if I had burned her Gym down and killed all of her Pokémon.  I wasn't Purple, why was she so angry?  Brock was as confused as I was.  He tried to assure Misty that I was only here for a badge, but Misty was adamant that I was here to take her sister.  The water Gym Leader muttered things about conspiracies and plots to damage the world.

Of course!  We had soooo much in common!  This woman was me!  She could see the lies, the hidden cameras in the bushes, the milkman and his delicious milk holding a Molotov at every door in the morning, the giant man with goggles who terrorised the cities, the travelling circus of meat and the brains in jars found in hidden places!

I thought to inform her of our shared bond.  Surely she would reconsider her mood when she knew just how much I knew of the mysterious secrets of the world.  "You are correct, there is a conspiracy and I have been trying to figure it out!  But...!"  It was then when I realised I had broken my promise to the Nurse Joys.  I shouldn't interfere.  I should keep my mouth shut.  Grrr... bloody Nurse Joys!

"You get one battle and then you leave." Said Misty at last.

I nodded and was led to the pool where the Seel had been swimming in.  The Seel was now gone and the pool was lit up and had blown up mats across it for Pokémon to stand on.  Well I suppose they could lie down on them when they were dead too.  It showed Misty was thoughtful.

What happened next was EXPLOSIONS, MAGIC, HURTLING FIRBALLS, ZIG ZAGS, FUCKING ZIG ZAGS, GIANT MOONBEAMS, MAGIC, FLYING, BLASTING AND MORE EXPLOSIONS!

Nah not really.  I wish there were explosions.

The battle was difficult, long and tedious.  Misty used a Staryu and a Starmie and she healed them both whenever they got tired, making it much harder to break them down.  I lost Growlithe pretty quickly and Articuno just stood there ignoring me until a Psychic attack brought it down.  Gastly... 2 seconds this time.  Dratini was finished off by an Ice Beam.  Machamp did well to defeat Staryu but lost to Starmie.  Sooooo, after all that, Vaporeon was my last Pokémon and he only had water attacks and Starmie was a bloody water Pokémon.

I needed an attack strategy.  I needed a plan that could beat Misty's Starmie.  I needed to come up with something for my Vaporeon, otherwise I would fail at another Gym!  What would Cyan do?

"Get it in the jewels!"  It seemed to be the only thing that could be Starmie's sensitive area.  Voltorbs.

Vaporeon did his best to dodge Starmie's attacks while trying to hit the jewel.  From my position, the battle raged on like an epic contest between two powerful water Pokémon, throwing themselves at each other, launching beams of light and wielding the water like... well water.

Starmie unleashed its Psychic move and this almost caused Vaporeon to faint, but bloody Pokémon ashes, Vaporeon held out and charged at Starmie right in its jewel.

Crack.

The Starmie fell over and started beeping.  Maybe it was a robot.  That would explain why it was so powerful.  Maybe this was part of Misty's view on conspiracies.  I needed a robot too.  But where would I get such a powerful machine?

Misty was furious and almost threw the Cerulean badge at me.  I was happy though, I had four badges now!  Cyan, I'm catching up!  Be warned I will be taking over you soon!

Hope to see you again soon!
