Cyan, Day 27: Cinnabar Island: A Place of Little to No Importance

Now, I know if you’re going to go get your second to last badge, you should be savoring every last minute of it. Although, all I wanted to do was to be done with it! It had been nothing but trouble! I had been framed for my Dodrio’s murderous tendencies, I had lost to man in a battle with the IQ of a Magikarp-Stick (or just the Magikarp…) and I still had two gyms to go!

Riding the Lapras was a perilous journey. The waves along the sea were treacherous in nature to the point if I even wondered if going to get a badge was worth it. I mean what was Blaine going to do? Give me a shiny button for beating him, then pat me on the shoulder and go to the last gym. Speaking of that, I still haven’t found out where it is. There was an abandoned building in Viridian City, that could have been it.

Either way, Lapras and I were getting our butts kicked by the unforgiving ocean. We pressed on hard, until a giant wave came and swept us both underneath it’s crushing weight. Holding hard on to my keepsake from the Old Lady of Saffron, I urged Lapras to press forward. She was doing all she could, and I would be damned if I couldn’t get across this stretch to finish my journey! I decided to show some incentive, something to get Lapras to move twice as fast. I whispered to her, “A Rattata from a Cool Trainer’s pocket got there in five minutes. Maybe we’re just not as good as the Cool Trainers?”

We were there in fifteen minutes. Lying? Where can it not help?

Reaching the island, still half drenched, I watched the storm subside into the lazily hanging clouds to the west. Depositing Lapras, I walked to the Poke Mart, the water in my shoes squishing as I went. I repeat. I was DRENCHED.

As I walked in, I looked at the selection the shelves. Most of the selections of product I had never heard of before, but were told they were good for healing. I bought a few, and picked up some Ultra Balls mainly because I had never seen own before, let alone owned one.

Leaving shortly after my excursion, I went straight to Blaine’s Gym to face him in epic battle. I was one step closer to finishing my Journey and able to go home again, and never have to worry about feeding, clothing or bathing myself ever again! I would be treated like a God in Celadon City when I got back.

… Well that doesn’t make sense…

The Gym is locked… Crap.
