Cyan, Day 5: Fighting Rock with Earth, Wind and Fire

Well, I made it through the treacherous Viridian Forest again (it’s a lot easier when you can run through the forest) and only had to fight twelve trainers (destroyed them Caterpies and Metapods!) The weird part is, my PokeDex has for some reason started displaying information about the Pokemon I am either trying to catch, or already have (it’s weird.) So, realizing I did not have either Caterpie or Metapod, I caught them both, just so that way my PokeDex would shut up about how I had seen and not caught them.

Finally making it back to Pewter City, the first thing I decided to do was hit up the local Gym. I was going to take my first step into being a real trainer in the Pokemon League. I locked eyes with the first trainer and we started into epic battle. He threw out his Geodude and I countered with my Pidgey! My Pidgey with a broken wing. I had forgotten to go to the Pokemon Center before entering the Gym!

… I got rocked (pun intended) by the competition…

I swore revenge on the rock trainer after he had told me to leave. I left him with a mark so he would know I would be back (I bit him) and came right back after healing my Pokemon at the Pokemon Center.

I wrecked him. Have you ever seen a Geodude shatter? I have. It’s pretty gruesome. You wouldn’t think they would have any blood circulation seeing as how they are just rock balls but, they… They got a lot of blood.

Finally, it was time to face Brock, the Gym Leader of Pewter City. I had this match in the bag. Every other trainer in the Gym had just tried to beat me with a Zubat or a Geodude (seems kind of mismatched, but that’s okay), so I wasn’t expecting much. That is, until I saw it. A giant rock snake that I had never seen in my nine years of life. My PokeDex told me it was an Onyx and my best bet was to take my creatures and go.

I refused to go. I mean, how hard can it be to beat a man with no pupils? So, I sent out my Rhyhorn. The battle was epic, although my Rhyhorn lost. After throwing Pokemon after Pokemon out into the fray only to watch them lose their consciousness, I was left with only Diglett. Ready to not be able to watch what happened next, I shut my eyes. I heard crashes and scratches and then slowly opened my eyes. Onyx stood their, a broken shell of a rock and my Diglett stood their in his magic hole, unharmed. Great Bill! This was an achievement! Next, my Diglett destroyed Brock’s two Geodudes in a small amount of time.

I couldn’t quite tell if Brock was devastated, impressed, or just monotone. He needs pupils, they would make his facial expressions easier to tell. Either way, I got the boulder badge, and my first badge ever! My next stop is Cerulean City, and then wherever else I shall have to go to be the best.

So far, I am beating my rival. Just remember kids; Destroying the dreams of people who are nine-years older than you is always okay.
