Although, I did manage to pick up a neat little TM for practically nothing: Bubble Beam. I’m not too sure what it does, but beam attacks have been working really well for me so far.
Oddest thing happened while we were there. These two women, a mother and daughter, assaulted me while I was waiting outside of a changing room for Lickitung. I was accosted with cries of “Bill! Bill!” And they threw their arms around me. All of this put me in a rather odd situation, and when Lickitung came out I tried to get across a feeling of utter terror with my eyes. I tried to tell them that they must be confused, and that my name is Trainer Andrew ♂. This only spurred them on, saying how this was, “some crazy experiment I’m sure!” Then the younger one tried to give me what must have been to her a knowing wink, but it came out as more of an odd twitch.
The two harpies were insistent, to say the least, and were adamant that I come back to their house for dinner. Not wanting to spend another meal eating Goldeen-flavored ramen, I welcomed a home cooked meal.
Lickitung and I sat there with blank expressions, blown away by the sheer amount of words pouring forth from the two. When one of them stopped to breath there wasn’t a beat before the other began. We both sipped green tea and just sort of nodded as they filled me in on a million different aspects of their lives. The meal was delicious though, so I guess I can’t complain. We had a traditional Johtonese meal, complete with the mother wearing a kimono she said she hadn’t put on in ages.
I would have eaten more, but there was a disturbance the whole meal. This skinny, wan little Eevee was mewing softly in the corner, chained to the wall. I tried to bring it up around their auditory abuse, but they blew it off. By the end of the meal I couldn’t take it anymore, and offered to take the poor pokémon off of their hands. They both shrugged, clearly unfeeling for the thing’s plight. I took the tiny, brown beast in my arms and walked out indignantly, leaving them behind as they wished me good luck in Ecruteak City.
I’m not sure who this “Bill” character is, but if I ever run into him I’ll have a few stern words to give him.
Arriving back home I was just too worn out to do anything, even to look at my new pokémon. Whatever. Now it knows Hyper Beam and Bubble Beam.
Savior of the fallen,
Trainer Andrew ♂
